Parker:
You might as well start out on the right foot by signing your post. You can uses the User CP in the upper left hand corner. There is a great amount of information in the forum. Plan on doing a lot of reading. There is an apprentice thread that give the new comers a good start.

I ordered the Georgia Falconry Assosiations manual earlier today, are there any other books that would help with passing the exam?

Welcome to the forums Parker.

I've read The Falconer's Apprentice and A Falconry Manual and have found both to be helpful. Good luck! :)

What is the difference between a field jesse and a mews jesse, besides the obvious statement that one would be used in the field? And can you get one set of jesses for the same purpose as both of them or do you have to get them indiviualy?

Also, does anyone kno how I could get in touch with the Georgia/S.C fish and game so I could request a packet?

Field jesses have no slits for a swivel hence the bird shouldn't get hung up by getting the slit caught up on something like a twig, branch, ect. Mews jesses have slits and are left on the bird while in the mews so you can get a hold of the bird. The hope is the bird will not pull them out. This is of course using anklets and jesses. Not too long ago we used fixed jesses. Still, why would you free loft a bird before its trained? Some people use a jesses with just a hole punched in the end of them and call it dual purpose jesses (the regulation state there cant be a slit while flying). A French snap can be attached to it while on your fist. Still others take the jesses out (once the bird is trained) when in the mew and field and only use jesses and a swivel while weathering or transporting the bird. That way the bird only has anklets on while flying or in the mews.
So mews jesses have slits, field jesses don't and jesses with a small hole in them can be considered dual purpose.
Welcome to insanity bro!

So is there a difference from jesses and alymeri jesses? (excuse the spelling)

The Aylmeri anklet is a newer way. I would guess from what i have heard from some of my apprentices the bullet jesses are the way to go(don't know never used them). The traditional jesses are considered obsolete.
