Took a trip down to the Morley Nelson Snake River Birds of Prey Area earlier this week. Saw a couple Red-Tails, about 6 Prairie Falcons, possibly a Golden, and a bunch of Ravens. We hiked down into the canyon and saw 2 or maybe 3 Prairie Eyries.

Pair of Red-Tails doing courtship flights all day..

Very cool Ryan. Don't you just love being in Idaho. I think it's one of most beautiful and diverse places in the country. We are blessed for sure. Stephen

What are the falcon populations doing? I'd heard rumors that they were going down.

It is my opinion that overall, Prairie and red-tail numbers have not changed much. An eyrie you visited in the Greenfalk days will still be close to the same spots, if not exactly where you remember them to be. Eagles have lost a lot of jackrabbit supporting sagebrush cover, due to fires, so they are way down, but there are still plenty of ground squirrels in the cheatgrass "wasteland"

And that should only help the prairies.

I take it that jacks are down?

WSE have had a cycle and now they are up wherever possible. Wherever there is big sage there are jacks.
