It has no dark wing pits...not a prairie falcon.

Not too sure do to the position, but I think I see a facial disk and a prominent white rump patch. I do not see brown markings under the wings of a PF. I go with a male marsh hawk. But hard to tell by this view.

Pearly gray upperparts, white rump patch, delicately marked underparts, wingtips look like they're dipped in black ink -- I'm with Tony: male marsh hawk.

Maybe this shot will help. Thanks for the reminder on the wing pits.

Us old guys would call it a male Marsh Hawk. The kids who have been to school might call it a male Northern Harrier, but it's the same bird. When you see a Prairie Falcon, you'll know it's a falcon by the wing beat if nothing else. Great photos, by the way.

Yup. Adult make Northern Harrier, aka marsh hawk.
But I really like the first picture. Oo la la.
I'm a fan of Jack Northrop.
