Inspired by Steve's photo on the longwing photo thread I got my painting stuff out again and had a go. I was taking pics with my phone as I finished for the evenings to show a friend how it was going. Now that I'm done, I thought it would be cool to post them all in a row.

Thanks guys! I don't know what to say to you all...

Yes, the media is watercolour.

I haven't done that many - This one, and one I did one of my friends CB white gyr/pere for him for christmas, are the only two that I haven't used any ink on. All my previous work was straight ink or watercolour and ink, but I've had a lot of fun with these two so maybe I've found something new.

So, as for selling them... I think I want to keep this one. I am more than happy to have some quality prints made if people are interested, and I would be open to taking commission work - obviously you would get your commissioned original, I will keep a print.

Steve- this was done from your photo.

I will stick some of my other stuff up here that I like in case you are interested.

Some my earlier stuff.. I sold a few prints of these at the NAFA meet in Amarillo 2008.

I think I've suprised myself with the straight watercolour - it will probably be straight ink or straight watercolour from here on out.

I can't say that I blame you!

I recognized it right away. It's one of my favourite shots of the bird.

If you do a run of prints I would be grateful for the chance to purchase one.

Great job, again.

Steve

From the interest I've seen, I will likely get prints made. Not sure how many to do though. If its just the three, they will likely be more expensive to cover setup costs etc.

I could do $50/print (high quality, giclee prints rated at 70 yrs - they're probably on better paper than the original!) for a small run.

Anyone else interested?

Emily, you do nice work and have a good eye. I really like the subject photo as well and it probably got the wheels in your mind going as soon as you saw it. You're already handling the watercolor well, but don't limit yourself to it and ink. If you really like fine detail try one with gouache. It can go with the watercolor as it's water based, but it's opaque so a real challenge to work with.

Anyway, nice job on the peregrine painting. I love the flying gyrfalcon ink drawing too.

I've never even heard of gouache... When I need a dark colour I usually just use less water. I will have a look at it though. Could be handy for those pesky backgrounds.

I am very busy this week with work stuff, but I am planning to get down to the print shop late next week or soon thereafter.

I have a list of 5 people wanting prints, and because of costs I'm still debating the number of prints I will make (only enough for those who ask, or a few extra).

Is there any one else interested?

Emily:

My print arrived today. Simply gorgeous. I plan on matting and framing it this upcoming weekend. It's going to look great hanging on the wall in my office.

Thanks again for sharing your work.

Glad to hear you guys got them alright.

Would love to see how you frame yours. Again, it will probably end up nicer than how the original is done!

Thanks for all the kind words.

Emily:

Decided to hang this at the bottom of my staircase leading into my finished basement and office. Do to the limited space, I decided to go with a smaller frame, and no matting. In the future, I will most likely move it to a larger wall area where I can form a grouping with additional pieces you produce.
