The weather couldn't have been any better. It was a real sunny day out, we had a good NW wind about 20mph. We had some time restraints, so we could only trap for a couple hours. We ended up catching one haggard male and one passage male which we released. Hopefully the migration will pick up this comming week. Hoping to catch a big footed female..
Here's the setup..New DarkHorse blind.

Dave, Great quality photos! Good stuff man! I snuck out for a couple of hours today too, and caught a few birds. This time of year is always my favorite... trap a few hawks in the morning, do a little woodcock and grouse hunting during the day, and scout whitetails or bowhunt in the afternoon! You can't beat it! October in the northeast is the best!! Go get that honkin' big female! :D

Congrats on the success!! I'll be setting up my first trapping station here in a couple of weeks. A couple of quick questions for you. First, how do you bring the lines into the blind...through a slit in the blind or through gromets? Also, did you mow the area where the bownet is and where the lines are run?

Thank a lot guys.

Chris - I'll tell Gary you said hello. Unfortunately I belive I have to work that weekend on day shift so I don't think I can make it. I do know Gary is planning on attending.

Scott- You schedule in the fall sounds exactly like mine. Throw a few pheasant hunts in the mix too.. Good luck to you this fall as well.

Joby - My blind soens't have a bottom in it , so I just runs the lines under the edge and I have a board that I set on the ground that has 2 insulators on it. I run the lines thru them so when your sitting there , just keep your feet on the board and pull the lines straight up to lift the pigeon. I just matted the grass down where the bownet goes, where the line goes, the taller grass didn't seem to bother much.

Take care guys and good luck this year.

Dave,

I noticed in one of your photos you have your lure pigeon hooked breast up? Do you get good action out of the pigeon and does he get tangled in the line often?
I originally made all my harnesses with the point of attachment by the tail so the pigeon hangs upside down. Hanging upside down they seem to tire pretty quickly and don't flap much without a lot of prodding.

You know Bruce , I've never done it any other way, that is how my sponsor always done it so I did the same. We made this harness just prior to this outing. He didn't seen to tangle at all. I would think if they hang upside down , it would make them want to fly to rightside themselves back up. I don't know though.

Thanks again for the bownet Bruce - it works awesome..

Can you take a picture of the harness off the pigeon? Are the legs going through an opening as well?
