Great video, nice flight. I wonder if that was a wild quail?

No clue really. The video looks to be somewhere tropical from the bannana plants. I suppose it could be a planted quail but from where the dog flushed it to where it went down was a long way. My guess is that it's wild but who knows.

It was posted to a falconry yahoo group. My sponsor sent the clip to me.

that bird that Bryant has would catch flight conditioned quail. Only one wild one though.

That is cool! all my redtails have gone after quail just have not connected... one flight i remember while rabbit hunting my hawk was honed in on movement a hundred yards away and with a stealthy foot off the ground flight busted a covey of bobwhites...

I flew some flight conditioned quail at a plantation that was $5000/yr membership. I was flying a mHH and caught over 95% of them. Not the same in the wild though. smile. We have probably busted coveys about 10 times and he has caught only 2. Of course I don't fly him on them daily either. They are in boogery cover here. The worst of the worst usually.

On the rise, or initial flush? Or after a reflush? I can get some pretty good flighted bobwhites. The ones that don't just freak out and sit still, will fly forever and are super fast. I used to toss some for the little male gos I had. They were fun at times, and not so at others....

Not on the rise usually, but rarely on a reflush either. He pursued them until they tried to put in and WHAM!

Oh yeah, and I was ENTERTAINMENT, not a paying member.
