If you're talking about squirrel hawking from northwoods....it's not.

You'll be hardpressed to find a copy of the book, those who have copies probably won't let them go cheap. Honestly, there is probably nothing in there you wouldn't hear from talking to an avid squirrel hawker. The stories are great and the book is informative, but the main reason to have the book is just as a collectors item....mine looks damn good on the shelf firsts

Have you considered just calling Mr. Brewer if you want to learn more about squirrel hawking?

There is considerable value in the book because Brewer questions each topic and examines it openly. It is more than a how to approach.

I like the fact that he questions each topic, is the book out of print now? seems like I just got mine a couple of years ago.

Seeing as your in south Carolina you are in the heart of squirrel hawking country for falconry. From all the surrounding falconers in your area most information is a phone call away.

Thanks for the info Jordan.
You are right about the area being squirrel country. My first your as a Falconer and got 40 squirrels with my PRT.
I am always open to get as much Info as i can and was hoping the book would have some info i have not heard or read about some where else.
Thanks Anthony

Anthony, I would recommend getting the book if you can. I have hunted squirrels with red-tails in NC for 10 years and it is a really good read. Do I agree with everything Gary says in the book, no. But like everything in falconry, there are a lot of different ways to do things. Doing them different doesn't always make them wrong, just different. If you end up collecting falconry books (is there a falconer that doesn't), you will want it in your library.

Speaking of libraries, hey Harry, I need your first 2 books! LOL :D

I have an interest in assorted old books. I have found a great website called abebooks. I bet you can find it there. In fact, I have bought some historical books on falconry through this site.

If you can't find it anywhere else you will have to watch amazon and eBay. After buying my copy I did find one on eBay for about $40 if I am remembering right.

Rather than buy B&B for hundreds of dollars on amazon, consider buying NAF&HH. It is out with a new addition this summer with a chapter on squirrel hawking by Gary Brewer. For $100 you get a lot of book. I ordered a copy.

Why aren't book like this on iBooks? It's a heck of lot cheaper to put out of print books on Kindle or iBooks. The author would make more money and others could benefit from his knowledge. That's been my pet peeve about this sport. Most recommended reading is from out of print books that cost hundreds to obtain a copy. All of this information should be made easy available digitally to every for a nominal fee.

Its a very good book, I'm currently an apprentice and it has been an excellent resource for laying out the training process and other real life challenges with falconry. I would considerate it a must have. I thought I heard some discussion about a reprint but may be wrong.
