Hello there!
My son is turning 13 in 2 weeks and has been obsessed with falconry for 2 years. I want to find a local falconer who would be willing to apprentice my son. I bought him several books on falconry and equipment last Xmas. He's a hard worker and we live on a ranch so yes incredibly good with animals. We live in Monterey county California. If there is anyone local on this forum that can help me that would be awesome!
Thank you,
Shavaun Wolfe

try this Club to locate a few different falconers in your area and ask if he can go out hawking with them.

you could call your DF&W or peruse its website (http://www.dfg.ca.gov/wildlife/falconry/) to find out if they maintain a list of licensed falconers. calling a few in your area and asking the same question would probably get him into the field with a few.

Go to this link and contact these folks, they should be able to help your son get started.

Also, there is a joint CHC/NAFA meet in January, which would be a great event for you and your son to attend and meet other falconers and go out and see some birds fly. Go to the link below for more information.
