Elias,
Welcome to the forum. I've spent quite a bit of time in your neck of the woods, and done a fair amount of hawking there as well (with my hawks and others') Just thought I'd make a suggestion... Get in touch with Bob Winslow. He lives in Dana Point, and has been a falconer for a billion years or so. GREAT guy to spend time with, once you befriend him. Visiting with Bob is a priority for me every time I'm out there. (usually each spring) Also, you live very close to one of NAFA's current regional directors - Adam Chavez. Seek him out. He can help connect you with other falconers in your area, and start getting you networked in the community a bit. You can discuss joining NAFA with him as well.

Elias,
You can discuss joining NAFA with him as well. By all means join NAFA if you agree with their current policy that falconer's birds belong to the government and not us as falconers. That is not to say that NAFA does not do some good things for falconry. Some how it seems to slip peoples minds, that they have this type of slant, and they fail to mention it.

They just seem to have forgotten some of the basic founding principals of this country. If you believe that once lawfully aquired, that your falconry bird is your personal property than you may want to look a little farther. Troy Morris is the Pacific Driector for the American Falconry Conservency, and lives at Corona. Troy is a great guy and can explain to you the differences in the 2 clubs. He is also a member here in NAFEX.

All the best

You seem very passionate about falconry and you kinda have to, to be a falconer. I had no idea that the clubs had different views, that's very interesting! if you have the time please elaborate more. i'd like to know
thanks in advance
