Hello all!
I hope I'm not intruding. I'm an equestrian and writer with an interest in horseback falconry. I'd like to develop and pitch an article on this topic to a national equine publication, but am in need of some experienced input on the topic. If you or anyone you know would be willing to contribute with information or high-quality photos, I would be very appreciative (and, of course, due credit would be given in the published piece!). I'm especially interested in the training and preparation required (on the horse's part) for this activity.

Thank you in advance and happy hunting!

Jennie

You can see Harry McElroy's book, Desert Hawking.

He is also a member here.

Katy,

While Harry certainly has lots of experience hawking on horses, don't forget your experience as well.

Hah! I don't have a thing on Harry. But thank you for the mention!

If you're looking for simply from a writing perspective for 'showmanship' I would consider getting a hold of Theo Blaickner - he does a lot of performance based training and riding, though his birds of prey are also hunting/falconry trained as well and he's said to keep them in good practice in all skills.

There are a few exquisite falconers and riders out there, but if you're looking for publication Theo's got the "stage" presence for that type of thing.
