Cathy Schlott at the National Aviary in Pittsburgh has lost a Lanner Falcon. The bird (which has a very pale head with narrow "mustache" marks, grayish back and cream-colored undersides) is wearing leather anklets and flight jesses, a gold band on the right leg and a small telemetry unit (channel 216.165 MHz) on the left.

If anyone finds this bird or thinks they have sited it, Cathy asks that you call, regardless of the hour, at 412-720-5657, or email Cathy.Schlott@aviary.org.

I saw this on Facetube yesterday evening but I didn't have time today to do a telemetry check, I will try and do it tomorrow.

Thanks, Fred. They asked for all the help they can get. I also emailed a few PA falconers and the President of the PFHT.

Anyone know what type of telemetry? How long the battery should stay alive?

It's is a Marshall Transmitter and it had a fresh battery on Sat (Sept 6th).

Marshall what... Scout? Micro? Powermax?

I've been out in my area but haven't heard anything. Trying to get a sense of max life for the battery

Lanner don't fly so far and are very very loyal to the land they are flown. I would not trust the telemetry and would lure the bird everyday from sunrise at the lost place. Hope a safe recovery...

That I'm not sure of, I didn't hear any more detail then that.
