Hello, I'm Cameron, a 16 year old from New Jersey. I am really interested about getting into falconry. I know there is a lot of preparation involved, and there are a bunch of licenses and things that need to be taken care of first.

The thing that is holding me back from starting, is my location. The place I live is not very rural, and i have a tiny yard, with lots of other houses in close proximity. There are definitely places for me to hunt that aren't to far from me, but my back yard isn't suitable for a bird.

I'm not sure what my options are, but any help or guidance is accepted. :)

I've flown birds in the city more than I have in the country. When I flew kestrels, they all stayed in my bedroom, so tons of room and lots of wilderness aren't always necessary.

Most dont have hunting right out their back yard, but presumably they own a vehicle to take them and their bird to the hunting. If you have a car or a parent with one willing to drive you to a place to hunt, then you can hunt.

Good luck with it. You can make it happen if youre determined enough.

What sorts of areas did you hunt in? And How did you keep them inside your bedroom? Did u build a mews indoors?

Determination might not be enough with my parents, they don't think its possible. The main issue is that I really cant keep a bird in my back yard. I'll need to find a way around that before I can really get into this.

Your best bet is to get with other falconers from New Jersey. I know they have a really good club.
