View Full Version : Hello From Oklahoma

I've been reading for a while, and figured I would go ahead and introduce myself. My name is Fox (I promise, it really is) and I just finally got back into Falconry after an absence of ten plus years.

I grew up in the United Kingdom, where I was fortunate to be able to learn Falconry through volunteering at a Falconry center in my teens before pursuing the sport on my own. The center gave me exposure to all sorts of birds I likely never would have gotten to work with otherwise, so I really do feel very fortunate. Once I moved to the USA, between life circumstances and apartment housing I wasn't able to pursue falconry. Now that I'm finally in a position to do so, I've been fortunate to find someone willing to take me on as an apprentice.

I just recently trapped a redtail. I'll likely make a separate thread about her, with obligatory feet pics. My first ever wild hawk. It's an immense privilege...never something I would have been able to experience in the UK.

Welcome to NAFEX and good luck with that first passage bird. I've not experienced non-wild birds on my glove, but I know it's the envy of many people overseas!

My ex-wife (one of those rare good separations) is moving to Norman this coming weekend. If you are looking for a hunting partner, I'm sure I can help you two hook up.

Apologies for never responding to you, Daniel. Haven't been on NB for a while. I'm always up for meeting new friends, but hunting partners might be a way off since the bird has asper.
