View Full Version : Pre-Apprentice in Cincinnati

I was involved with raptor rehab in the early 90's when I was in high school. When I turned 14, I met up with some local falconers and spent about three years working with them. I was, however, never able to officially start my apprenticeship due to the fact that the minimum age for a Falconry permit in Ohio at the time was 18 years of age. Well, when I turned 18, I joined the military and have not had the time to dedicate to falconry since... Now, I am getting older and my interest is coming back.

Actually, I cannot really say it is coming back, since it never left. I just knew that my life circumstances prevented me from being able to devote the time truly necessary to be a successful falconer. I just ignored it since it would have distracted me from my duties. You know, the little things like family, career, paying bills, and all. I now have those little things taken care of by having a good engineering career, an awesome wife, three kids, five acres in the country, etc...

And most importantly, I have the time. That and my eight year old daughter found my old falconry books and is chomping at the bit reading and asking questions. So it looks like I will have someone to share the passion with. :D

Anyway, that's me. Look forward to to hanging out here peacee
