I lost my Black 3/4 peregrine 1/4 this morning on the north fork of Long Island. The last signal I had was coming directly from the Long Island sound towards Connecticut. I was standing on a bluff 150' up from the beach and the fog was a issue but I could see gulls flying several hundred yards out over the sound. When I repositioned myself 1/2 west to access the beach I lost the signal for good. Its 20 miles across to Branford so I'm hoping she out flew the signal and made it back to Long Island. If Conn falconers could B.O.L.O for her and turn on your receiver on if possible she is wearing a L&L XLF 4.5 216.024...... Thank you in advance for any assistance. ( She is in adult plumage) My cell is (516)643-8318

HAM operators can help you as well with a 'Fox Hunt'. Good luck in finding your bird.

As it turns out, the Amateur Radio Relay League (ARRL) which is the main ham radio organization in the US is in Newington, CT. There is a plethora of
hams working there and they probably have an idea who can help you DF your bird. Give them a call and explain your dilemma: 860-594-0200

I can come out tomorrow with my reciever. Which way was the wind blowing when you lost her? Somehow I doubt she would cross 7 miles over.I think she swung around back to LI on the north coast, say from Port Jeff out to orient.
Merry Christmas.

Hey Corrado, it is actually 20 miles across from that point and I am leaning towards that theory as well. My concern is with the thick fog that was over the sound she might of become disoriented and who knows what could of happened at that point. There wasn't any wind that day until much later in the day. It blew hard out of the west for the next day and a 1/2 which would push her towards Orient. If she is alive and on the Island there is a good chance she will turn up. Thanks for any help!

Was out there today and tried to get any signals. I didnt know the exact channel so I tried channel 1 and channel 2 since they were closest to what I think may be right. Just static at Lewins Farm. Put some notices out on the north fork to the end. Also make sure you have a live pigeon. She may get wildish and fully cropped if you meet up with her.
