After a couple weeks of backorder my Sony SR12 from Best Buy finally arrived this morning. I am still getting myself used to all the feature and so far it has exceed my expectation. My first HD camera and all I can say is WOW. For a camcorder, the SR11 (60GB) and SR12 (120GB) both boast a 10.2 MP and capable of taking still shot while shooting a video. Although this is a 1080i and not the full 1080p the HD video quality is still very impressive. Here are some sample still shot I took an hour ago. Not bad for a camcorder, eh?

More about the camera if you are in the market for one.

I got the new JVC Everio 30gb and i am really having fun with it too. These HD cameras really are going to be a cool asset to our faclonry for sure. 60gb and 120gb really are more than i needed as i can get 7 hours with my 30. The nice thing about the JVC is the minolta lens. 35 optical zoom works great and i can even zoom into 75 optical and it looks great on my 27 inch tv. I just got the software set up on my comp and figureing out how to work it but so far i think this will be fun this year for sure!

I agree about how useful it will be, especially during the imprinting. I actually almost went for the JVC myself when I found out the Sony was on backorder, but I needed something with a little better still photo capability. The JVC 35 optical zoom definitely will come handy when the bird is waaayyy out there. Yep, looks like we are going to have some fun this year!boxingg

I actually like Harris Hawks better in the juvenile plumage, I too wish they would stay looking like that! Oh well, at least the accipiters look better in their adult plumage.

Ling, whats the word on the gos! Can't wait to see the video diary of your imprinting it.

The only word I had a couple weeks ago was that he'll keep me posted when they hatch and sexed. If Murphy doesn't get in the way I'll have one by the end of June.
