Super tame coopers

Anyone missing a cooper's hawk I the south idaho/north Utah area? Had a cooper's land 3feet from me at Bear Lake stayed there for several hours only flew if I approached closer then 3feet. Had a black band on the leg no other equipment.

Did you try getting it to come to the fist or lure?

No glove or lure as I was at work.... Bird is still arround. Also it's about 200yrds across the state line

Usually the black band (especially if its a thin zip-tie looking band) is put on a falconry band in some places still. If its a wider (like twice as wide as a zip-tie or more) then its something else. You might tie a dark colored sock to a shoe lace and toss that around. If it comes over to it, then its probably a released falconry bird. Some people let Cooper's go if they start getting too aggressive toward them, or if they start screaming, or any other myriad of excuses they can make up to not stick it out or transfer the bird to someone that will. Its a common practice with the readily available free birds like Cooper's have become now.

A rabbit predator call will bring him over the line. ;)

I'd throw a pigeon in a harness. Bring it over the line AND catch it. I know the coops I've flown have never turned down a free pigeon.
