Hi There, just thought id drop a quick introduction to the forum.

I am an British Novice in the world of Falconry and Im now living a life long dream training and flying birds of prey. I own and have flown a Female Peregrine Saker Hybrid, an imprint Female Saker, and a Female Harris Hawk. I am also keen to start looking at breeding as a hobby (very small scale only), and recently aqcuired myself an imprint Peregrine Tiercel, and Imprint Female Lugger. All of the birds are currently moulting and I'm in the process of building suitable imprint pens.

I have been reccomended this forum by several UK based falconers who cant sing its praises highly enough.

So I'm looking forwards to inputs and help from the forums collective knowledge as I mature in this sport, and where possible hoping to contribute myself in a positive and constructive manner.

Cheers, Paul

Hi Paul,

Welcome! I agree with you that this is a pretty good forum. I'm in Nebraska and fly a 16 y.o. Coulson-bred Harris tiercel. He flies at 22 ounces and has captured rabbits, pheasants, a few hares, lots of quail and uncounted other things (mice, snakes, voles, ground squirrels, etc.)

I've been to the UK three or four times and really enjoyed myself at the falconer fairs held there. Hopefully I'll be back this year or next again.

Here are a few pictures of my birds.

The first is of my imprint 05 female saker Leelu, the first bird that I flew. A real sweety and 3 this year. Unfortunately she turned into a real crabby thing when I nipped her weight back to try and enter her, so I raised her weight and kept her on the lure. I will continue to fly her for fun and possibly try for some pere x saker hybrids when she comes into breeding condition.

The second is my female Pere x Saker Hybrid Coco, I bought her "second hand" from Nick Fox early in 08, the intention was to fly her on crows. Shes quite a nervous bird with a few manner issues (guess thats why she was for sale) and although I had her flying free and stooping 30+ passes to the lure, I didnt manage to re-enter her before she damaged her ankle and went into an open fronted pen to recover and moult. Coco and I have unfinished business and with the open fronted pen and many hours of re-manning I'm determined to make her into a good hunting bird.

Thirdly is Reg, a very dark 05 imprint Peregrinus Peregrinus Tiercel. a real sweety and hopefully my semen donor for years to come. I'm hoping to fly him on duck and partridge which he has already taken early in the season and then to pen him and work with him to donate for next spring.

Lastly is Millie once again a large and very dark 04 imprint Peregrinus Peregrinus Falcon. Millie is one of two female imprint peregrinus peregrinus that I have. The other large and dark falcon is Madeline a 01 imprint falcon who is currently settling into her new imprint pen, I decided to leave her alone and not poke the camera through the bars at her.

I'll try and post a few pictures from last season later.
