LOTS of these guys...and I was tempted to switch from Kestrel to RT if I could get one of these on the trap.

There there was this buteo. We're not sure what this was. Not like any RT we've seen before.

We've saw three of these, and we did throw out a trap just to see if it would take interest. Sponsor Ken said that if he got one on the trap, he'd take it home, even if he wasn't ready for a bird yet.

And then, there were these. Not raptors but LOTS of them running around. These were being led into the brush across the street by a cat. Yes, a cat.

Want proof? *Grin*

Looks like eastern washington? Seems like a familiar area to me where the quail and the cat are. Like I have seen that before or been on that road!

The hawk is a swainsons hawk. Good looking birds aint they? The cat, he is just getting the quail to follow him over the the obvious trap he has set for them. Hew must be trying to win ther confidence so that he can eat them later once the weather gets cold.

You know I flew a swainson hawk once and got him in se washington around Dayton, Starbuck area. They have small feet. I have spent lots of time in that area and have family there! One of my favorite places!

Thanks!

LOL. It was cute to watch how he herded them, then led them. If one strayed, he'd go back and herd it back.

Here is a friend of mine holding a Redtail hen I trapped in Ellensburg many many moons ago! I can't believe I still have this picture. This was when digital cameras first came out!

We saw more dark morphs/Harlan's RTs then the usual coloration, passage or haggard. I was tempted...very,very tempted to try.

yes I remember seeing them there too. Like little Golden eagles. Washington had some very dark redtails!
