Here's a couple of pics from this morning of my buddies intermewed passage female Coops, Murder Chicken, she's a bunnie slayer, flys around 390g (I think). I made him a new hood a couple of days ago with some fancy stamping (real fancy huh?), so you better watch out Ken & Bryant there's a new leather stamper in the world!!!

Hey guys, new to this board. Glad everybody likes my little bird....
Actually her "official" name is Sally but I think "Murder Chicken" fits very nicely. And yes, Paul is right her anklets are made from nylon webbing.

How hard was it to get her on CT's? Sounds like a great bird.
Thanks,
Eric

As requested, here are some pictures of her equipment. Her anklets are nylon webbing (flat, not the tube, the tube doesn't work-ask me how I know) and the jesses are paracord kinda reversed and stuffed back through themselves to leave a small loop on the end, I use an elastic leash and fishermans swivel. I also included a picture of my super-engineered, highly specified, application specific tail guard.....

Not hard at all, I bagged her once and it was all she needed. She took 34 last season. She is a great bird. Sometimes.

How are you melting the anklets to keep from fraying and not have sharp edges?

Are those anklets kinda like "dog leash" material? I really like the look of them. Seems like if the bird picked at them they would fray badly though. Ever have any problems like that?

I too use the paracord jesses like yours, and really like them. I figured out a way to have a little tab on the end, and it makes it easier to pull them out and take off the leash and swivel for me.

Nice clean looking equipment. Beautiful bird. Oh yeah, and nice hood too!

Nate, nice coops! I flew mine for 3 seasons and transferred her this year and am missing her like crazy. I don't know how you can afford that tail guard, way beyond my price range! LOL :D Here is what I am now using on the finnish gos I am flying.

The tail protector is pure genius! Sometimes we over-think things. ;) Great looking bird!

Yes, sort of. I went to REI and bought the 3/4" flat nylon webbing, I think it was 12 cents a foot or something like that. I only melt what would be the rear (cut) edges with a lighter before I put them on to keep them from coming apart. I seems like so far if you cut "against the grain" they fray up a little but not much, the mesh is actually strong enough that I can't pull the cut bits apart with pliers and another person. I just thread the rear together like you would with leather anklets and cut a small hole in both pieces for the jess to pass through, then I tie a knot in the back side of the jess to keep the bird from plucking them out. This way the only sharp melted edges are off of the birds legs and the cut sections are nice and soft. She doesn't seem to pick at these very much but I'm pretty sure they'd hold up nicely, I've only had these on her for a few weeks so long term durability is still to be determined, but so far they are working out nicely.

Yeah, I'm all about the flashy high dollar equipment! The rubber band was actually Paul's idea, I couldn't keep a tail envelope on her to save my life and started worrying about her pulling out a deck feather. That hair clip idea is great! I might need to make a few of those.
