I was outside yesterday playing basketball when suddenly i saw this merlin fly to a tree by my house. So i got out my camera and tryed to take the best pictures i could. It had just caught a sparrow and ate it while I was taking pictures. Hope you like them!

a bud of mine came over and flew his female richardsons and it crashed a sparrow and missed it, then the sparrow took off with the merlin chasing. we watched through the binoculars these two birds haul ass straight away until they both were well above 100 feet . at the end of the field, they both spiraled down with the merlin catching it. my friend google mapped the distance and it was little over 1000 yards! yeah "rocket" is a good description
