THA 2009 Sky Trials

The Texas Hawking Association held its annual Sky Trials on February 14, 2009. Here are some pictures that Krys and I took that day.

We usually have about 10-12 birds entered, but this year we had a lot of birds injured, lost, etc. We had 5 birds entered this year.

This was a guest that came out to enjoy the day. He got cold, so his wife took off her sweater and gave it to him. All I can say is he must have been REALLY cold!:D

Scott's bird that won hit the pigeon not once but twice. The bird mounted to a decent pitch quickly and recalled to the lure instantly after a long tailchase.

I was taking a micro-nap confusedd not sleeping. Actually it looks like your bird is taking a higher pitch if you lay down. Give credit for the win to Cisco and the tiercel. I'm glad a peregrine finally won. The gyrs and hybrids have been taking all the glory.

Us here in Texas know it as beer. Now I know you might find it a bit strong for your taste but down here where we don't drink yankee piss (i.e. miller light et al) we just call it flavor. :D
