I'm a new falconer just finishing my first season as an apprentice. I had a female kestrel that was way fiesty, but I lost her about a month and a half after we started hunting. It was an amazing experience and I'm excited to try again this winter. My wife is due with our second child in September, so I'm hoping we'll have adjusted to the new lifestyle in time to trap something by the end of December. We'll see - I might have to wait a year for things to calm down. Either way, I'll be getting my first RT in fall of 2010, general or not!

Anyways, I'm still way new and have a lot left to learn, so I'll probably be reading more than posting.

Jason (Tyler is my middle name)

We have a very good group of active falconers here in the big city.
Who is your sponsor?

My uncle Brent - he's not too active in the falconing community, so many don't know him, but he's been flying since highschool. Great to find someone else in town. The only other falconer I've met here is Oscar.

Congrats - that sounds like a blast. Are you worried about how the gos will handle the heat?

Thanks - I really appreciate the offer. I'm sure I'll take you up on it next summer when I'm getting ready for a RT. Do you do a lot of hunting in Pahrump or closer to home?

Cool. I didn't realize gos was an option for desert falconers unless they had a cooler of some sort. How far did you have to go to get her and did you trap or take from the nest?
