Now Chuck, you can't just go and post one picture out of the series. You have to post the next few, you know the ones with all the blood after her bird ripped out her jugular!

Damn redtailed imprints!

See, look at that psycho. Trying to kill everything in sight.

In truth, I was scared for my life the entire time...

I knew you were scared, that is why I kept her away from you, Isaac.;) It took a lot of effort to keep her from hurting anyone!

That is such an awesome picture! I can see the total concentration in her face just waiting to pull away at the slightest twitch.

I see Brandi's avatar is now reflective of the new photo. Nice choice.

Actually the picture is so nice that it is also my screen background, and I have to get with Chuck on this one, but I want to order a large framed picture for the wall.

"If" the aggression is going to show up it will happen MOST likely happen at the end of the first year. or more likely in the second year. Not all imprint RT's do this, but a fair number of them do...only time will tell.

I was told that aggression from imprinted red-tails usually occurs during their 3rd year when their breeding hormones really kick in, but sometimes occurs as quickly as their first year in the field, usually against either the dog or others in the field. I don't think a lot of folks do imprint red-tails anymore, so most of what you hear is from the old days and techniques have hopefully improved over the years.

Seriously though, what does she smell like? My bird smells like everything from warm bread to fresh laundry to chocolate chip cookies right in that spot. I know, I'm weird but she smells really good.

I've heard stories of eyas merlins getting passed around a room to sniff like a joint, but this is just too good!!!

Fred,, i think your right about the techniques having changed. And i am curious to see how this bird turns out. Our knowledge of imprints has dramatically increased so I'm hopeful.....

I know, it's really strange. Every time someone comes to see the bird I go "Smell her neck!" Always good for a chuckle, but damn it she smells really good.
