One of my friends {Elizabeth from NYC, apprentice falconer} was at the meet when the roe deer was taken. She said it was an awesome flight and that the deer weighed about 45-50 lbs. Thats a female immature golden taking the deer.

Excelent piece of footage there.
I'd love to try and video some of the antics we get hunting foxes with the Goldens on a lamp.
Had one slip last season where we slipped Hedi at a dog fox that was about 300 yards away. She flew perfectly keeping out of the light beam and then for some reason landed about two meters from the fox, just outside the lamp beam, instead of making her attack.
We expected the fox to make a run for it but he tried to stalk up to her.
He made it to within half a meter when she hit him with both feet one either side of his head, jaw held perfectly shut. Wish I could say I seen it happen but it was too fast and too far away to see clearly but it was all over by the time we ran the last few yards to the kill and she didnt have so much as a feather out of place.

Sometimes when you see the things that some animals do, it makes you wonder. [smilie=eusa_think.gif]

if you could see the full version of that clip i was in it, it was filmed in czech in 2006, we was told as guests that if a eagle caught a deer near us we had to make in and hold the back legs down till the owner got there, as it comes to the end of the clip you hear shouting this was to stop me from getting there before the owner cos the eagle would of had me, here are some pics after the kill.

Well, the deer over here in the states are about 3 times as big and weigh about 3 times as much.My hawking grounds will never be as wide open as in the video. This is what I saw this morning as I was leaving my hawking grounds.

Nice pictures...

That has GOT TO BE THE smallest deer I've ever seen. (other than a fawn)

FYI

Rocky Mountain Mule Deer in Western North America weigh well over 400 pounds.
