yes they are but the slits are very small only about half an inch and she is now flying her bird with field jesses or no jesses at all ;)

You know Fred, I honestly didn't think of that. Well, plus if any apprentices happened to see these photos I wanted to make sure they didn't get a dangerous idea.

Happily these hawks are flown now without jesses, as per his reply. That's pretty cool.
