There has been a falcon spotted at the Brookhaven National Laboratory in Upton, NY. Pretty good pics. This was posted on another list:

From a College ...

These pictures were taken at BNL yesterday morning. The falcon, has jesses, so it is likely an escaped bird from a local falconer.

In the pictures it looks to have a band that can be seen in pic 4 and 6, on the birds right foot (left side in the picture), and it is between the bottom of the cuff and the foot (not a very knowledgeable set up). Looks to be probably a gyr/saker or definitely something with some saker blood in it.

wow great looking bird some where there is a falconer needing to see these pics and get over there and find that lovely lookin bird

That was my first thought too Pete, a gyr/saker of some %. It looks as if that cuff has seen better days. I wonder if the band may have started above the bracelet and worked its way down?

We'd like to think that Jeff. But actually, i have seen them in this position on more than a few falconers birds over the years.
