Just got a new camera for Graduation, and was playing with it today. Here are some pictures of my bird (I do know that the mews needs to be cleaned) and a couple random ones.

Ryan, with that posture it almost looks like your RT is soliciting you. It is the right time of year. How long have you had her? BTW, that upper mandible looks great.....recently coped? If so, great job.

I'm not sure what she was doing. I trapped her in October 09. It was coped about 3 weeks ago by a friend of mine. She did a great job.

Thanks guys! Jenni, I am going to intermew her. I don't think I'd have time to trap and train a new bird next year, plus I kinda like her.

Got another update for the molt. I'd say she's over half way done now.

Only the bottom half of each eye is changing color. Is it common for it to happen this way?

She's very orange in the chest, and it loos like her whole chest will be that color.

Her tail is almost completely in. Had to straighten a couple feathers yesterday. YIKES!

Your bird is looking great. And congratulations on your graduation. (and new camera!) Just one word of caution for you; I'm a bit overly cautious in the furniture/housing/equipment department, but be careful with anklets like that. I once saw a bird with a damaged halux because the grommet was far enough away from the bird's foot for the talon point to become stuck in/through the grommet.

She's looking good though...

I've been watching her anklets because they are getting stretched. I plan on replacing them a little close to hunting season so I don't take the chance of stress marks.

You have a beautiful Red-Tail! I'm amazed that birds do that! Here its always Robins. Interesting to see other birds do it too!

There was an area that I (and another NAFEX member) used to exercise Harris hawks during the summer months, and as the hawks followed along the shoreline of a pond, they were harassed by several other species. Most prominently, orioles, kinglets, and worst of all... Eastern Kingbirds. The kingbirds had amazing timing and just as the hawks left the limb of whatever tree they were sitting in, and began to fly ahead to their next chosen perch, a kingbird would whip over, bind to the scapular feathers of the hawk and pull at the feathers in the hawk's nape. It was incredible. They looked like little jockeys, riding hawks.
