Let's see some pictures from last season.

Here are a couple of my goshawks. The first one is on my 8 yr old tiercel and a jack and the others are of my female.

I'll play - I haven't flown a bird since Jan. I'm really going nuts.

Here's a pic of my girl 4 days off the trap

http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u102/kimmerar/Kimmys1stRT001.jpg

Her with a squirrel in a tree - and I can hear my sponser's words - just wait until they catch one in a tree and you have to climb up for it. She brought the squirrel to the lure so no climbing that day :).

And another fun outing

http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u102/kimmerar/SquirrelHunt111409027.jpg

I haven't got to fly one of these yet but I've incubated, hatched and raised a few now :). Maybe next year.

Great pics Paul! Love the pic with both of your guys chasing the same rabbit. With a dog as fast as yours does he ever get in the way right as the hawk is getting there?

Hey Jeremy,

That bunnie got away, but yeah sometimes there's a chaotic moment when the dog, hawk, and rabbit all meet. I worry more for the dog getting footed in the face, then for dog hurting the hawk. With the goshawk, the hawk usually passes the dog and catches the hare and then the dog gets there and bites, and hopefully doesn't shake the jack. It seems like the hawk gets competitive when the dog is chasing and wants to get there first, it's interesting. It's not the same thing that Terence does with the falcon and sighthounds, that can cover long distances, with the gos its usually inside 500 yards.

It can be a challenge to get a truelly unique 'redtail on rabbit' photo.

Seriously Scott, you do kind of look like one of Santa's helpers. Nice catch by the way!

Yes - I thought I could be slick - nope. HA - all redtails look big on my fist :) but if you were serious - she trapped at 1254 (flew to me on the creance outside at 1225) and caught game between 1190 - 1230. My husbands bird trapped at 1400 and flew at 1185. My bird could move the steel bow perch though. First bird ever that the perch had to be staked down for. She was a sweetheart and a great bird. I fattened her up for a few weeks before releasing her and when I let her go she weighed 1660 and still tried to follow me through the trees - not close but followed. Now - I'm only 4'9 so of course she looks like an eagle on my fist :). So if you were picking on my size toungeout. That's ok - everyone does.

Hey Paul,
I'm auditioning for a part time job as one of Santa's Elves. I've heard that he's got outrageous snowshoe hare populations up there!

Jay,

Where did you get that web slinger? It looks like it works great getting those pesky falcons to come back ;)
