This is a picture of Ron Brown's {CHC president} female Harris Hawk. I was a good distance away from the action and had to blow this picture up quite a bit, so its a bit grainy. I also had to take a bush out from behind the HH so she was visible. The jack was caught by the HH. Taken with my Nikon D200 and a 300mm lens.

Very nice Jim. Are you still around or have you moved already?

Eric, I am still around. I have made one trip to New Mexico with a bunch of stuff and spent a couple days there. I will be at Starbucks {Jurupa and the 15 frwy} tomorrow morning to watch the rest of the gang fly thier Harris Hawks. I am leaving with another trip to New Mexico on Monday. Come on down to Starbucks at 6 am tomorrow.

Dave and Kim, thanks for the compliment. I will have my camera with me tomorrow and see if I can catch the action. My 300mm lens is only a 4.5 to 5.6, so its kinda hard to get enough light for action shots at that time in the morning. Just can't afford those 2.8 lenses.

Jim:
I have never seen a HH that close to a Jack with it ears up. The Jack must not have seen her coming. [smilie=icon_hang.gif]

The jack knew the HH was coming. We had been in the field for about 40 minutes and the jack kept moving out in front of us into thick coverage. The HH had made several flights and this time the jack broke out into a fairly open area which was a fatal mistake. This is a passage female HH from Texas.

Great photo, Jim. Harris Hawks and Jacks make for a fun day.
