Hi all! My name is Rachael Gallegos. I am 23 years old and looking to find out as much information as possible. I am hoping to eventually find a sponsor here in Las Cruces, but in the mean time any information, websites, and stories are very much desired. I have been interested in falconry since I was in grade school and read a book about it. I had never known it existed until then and have only been more entralled by the sport since. I am going to college out here to get my BA in English and will be planning to attend either grad school or start teaching. I'm happy to be here and look forward to talking with everyone! Thanks!

Welcome to NAFEX Rachael. There are some great NM falconers here on the forums that should be able to point you in the right direction.

I got my start in Las Cruces. It was a great place to fly shortwings.

Have fun!

Hi Rachael,

There are some great falconers in Cruces, and at least two who work or go to school at NMSU. If you haven't found the modern apprentice (http://www.themodernapprentice.com/) yet it's a great resource for getting started.

Hi Rachael,

The NMSU library has some very good falconry books to get started with. I recommend checking out as many as you can.
