  1. Hi Jim...Thanks for your help as well before I made it down there...If you google south padre peregrine trapping I believe you should be able to get pics of peregrines with the survey crew holding pics of birds they caught and a couple showing the harnesses they are using.
Mine are different then theirs, but catch birds also..I make my nooses a little smaller and they have there nooses a bit bigger, about the size of a quarter.
Peregrines are quite sticky footed anyway and get caught easy compare to some other falcons.
I use 17- 25 lb test limp, but with your warmer/hot weather limp line may not be a issue like it is with our cooler temps..I'd also make a carpet of about 20 x 20 inches that you can put over the pigeon in case it is not caught when you think it was and pumped it.
Chris Godfrey makes a great harness and perhaps he will be of help to you also..Thanks and let me know how you make out..Thanks...Hub..You'll have a great time...Wish I were there just to hang out...
  2. Howdy Hub,

Been awhile since I talked to you last year. Godfrey said that you all had a great time trapping peregrines in South Padre. I followed your success with your new bird. I think you, Eric Edwards and Scott Coleman had the most success with the passage birds. I did get to see Scott's bird flown at out Texas Hawking Association's annual sky trials. She had amazing agility and super fast moves.

It has been my good fortune to have an excellent opportunity to trap a passage peregrine this year with one of the resident Texans that was drawn in the lottery. If all goes as planned, I will have the new bird transferred to me as he is really unable to fly a longwing due to some health problems. Needless to say, I am ecstatic especially since I didn't get picked for a permit. The planets must be in line is all I can say.

What pigeon harness designs did you use?

Any and all sugestions and/or experiences would be appreciated.
