    Scott,
I'm wondering if you have any experience in trapping recently fledged merlins. What I mean is, young birds that have left the nest, but are still in the area, but have not migrated yet?

    Thanks,
    Rob

Hi Scott, my name is Ken Molidor. I'm a falconer in Virginia. I have never posted on NAFEX but I read the posts daily. I was very interested when you mentioned you were raising an eyass merlin and you also mentioned flying merlins in less than open terrain. Normally when folks speak of flying merlins they speak of flying them in open terrain and giving them a large distance to approach flocks of starlings. Have you had good success flying them in tighter areas (as I picture maine)? How are they when raised from an eyass? screaming? We can trap them here on the coast but they do not breed here to my knowledge. I have flown redtails and currently fly a harris but am interested in merlins. I would love to fly one here but only have a couple areas that I would consider real open. Any info you could give me would be appreciated.
P.S. You mentioned working with Lee Chichester. Lee is the vice president of our club. I see her a few times each year.
    Thanks,
    Ken
