Hey Jeff, wondering if you know a master falconer, I could contact regarding sponsoring me. I live in Southern New Hampshire, between Manchester and Portsmouth. Thanks, Jane
That's pretty neat. I tried to catch a merlin all last fall, only to find out they were on the Islands just off shore from where we were trapping. I'd love to find a nest and take an eyas female. Any lakes in NH you know of that aren't up by the Canadian border? ~chuckle~ There is a nest in Keene and one in Jaffrey. How did you find teh sharpie nests? I found a Goshawk this past weekend. We knew about it from a mountain biker who was buzzed last year! We found the plucking post and then the nest. A friend of mine is going to pull from it this year. I will take one next year so this year it's either a mini accip or a merlin.
Sharpies I find late usually after the young make lots of noise. I have found 4 or 5 nest in 10 years and they have all been Concord or above. Good news is merlins are coming back, I found 3 or 4 on large north NE lakes by paddling the edges this time of year.
