Hello from central South Dakota

Falconry is a sport I've been fascinated with since middle school but I always thought of it as something reserved for books. I read what few books I could find but that was the extent of my experience.

After high school I joined the Army then went to college. I worked in Sioux Falls for almost a year before I got what is very nearly my dream job.

I moved to Pierre last March for work but mostly because there are few places in the world that have better hunting and fishing.

I cover the outdoors for the local paper. Through the course of my work I met a pair of local grouse hawkers. Now I'm in the very early stages of starting my apprenticeship. I couldn't be more excited.

Welcome, You are right in that few places in the world offer better falconry than Pierre. I made a trip up there a few years ago for grouse hunting- beautiful country with lots of game. Enjoy the experience!

Welcome Nick, I am about 3 hours west of you just over the Wyoming line. I know Mike and Gon and have hawked in SD with Forrest in years past. It looks like you are on the fast track to some of the best falconry in the world, enjoy.
