Alaska noob
Hello my name is Kurt and I am new to this venue. I am a k-12 Principal/Teacher/trapper/hunter/fisherman/Falconer..... my pleasure derives from the reverse order... my income from stated order. Most of my experience involves sagehens, sharptails, and some Greater and Lesser PrChicken action, way down south. Been raising a young family here in Alaska and been away from the birds for a while so trying to get back into the routine. Was curious if anyone knows the going prices for Gyr/peregrine hybrids, Gyrkins, or full blooded peales... and good sources for quality captive bred birds? Any info or suggestions would be appreciated!
Happy Hawking!

Kenny Sterner produces some awesome gyr/peregrine, Mr. Knudson makes some fine, fine peales. Gyrs, well, depends on the color yer looking/able to see up high. I'm sure others will chime in, and welcome back to the fold. btw, Tim Sell in AK has some F2 whites again this season...

As an Alaskan Falconer you will have have access to wild take of Gyrs and Peregrines, that includes Peals.
Dan Konkel has top quality white gyrs and you are perhaps more likely to get the Star Performer you are looking for from his April Stock birds. When I flew my one and only, he mentioned a price of 10,000 for a Jerkin. My bird was aquired through trades and favors. A few years later he sold one for about half that. I have no idea what he would quote now.
I currently have a Jerkin that he bred that is not April Stock and it is a pale shadow of what I once had. Dan's comment on this stock, was that he should pan out in 5 years and we are not there yet.
I have seen a few wild taken Alaskan white gyrs that flew well. My observations were on birds started in the lower 48 in Oct, and flown daily through the bottom of the winter of 4 seasons, a different bird each year. I have seen a wild taken Peals that did not fly well, as in not a natural high fligher.
