When is Marshall releasing the GPS dog collar?
Supposed to be released this fall as long as all the testing goes well
Any idea if could transition from one bird one dog to two birds
It's all in the software.
To paraphrase Humpty Dumty "The software does whatever I chose it to do".

Is this going to be a transmitter only or a working GPS collar with tone/vibe/stimulation?
Sport Dog owns the patent on the idea of combining a location collar with a command collar. The other makers have to go around this by making a location collar that has a pocket in the collar for the command receiver (or vice versa). Not sure how broad the patent is. At any rate Marshall is probably constrained from making a tidy "all in one" unit.

I am not a big fan of "all in one" units of any type. Any idea how many of those televisions with built in DVD players there are out there with a broken DVD player? In this case if something happens with the training collar functionality it could suck the battery dry and you are left with no way to track your dog.
I suppose that if I lived in a place where a dog was useful for something other than wedging its way into ridiculously heavy cover to find the rabbit I might feel differently.
I think it works well for falconers that MRT has no apparent designs on becoming the next multi-function dog collar company. That market is probably substantially more lucrative as evidenced by the fact that Garmin is playing in that sandbox. If MRT went that way sizeable amounts of R&D money would go in that direction and not toward falconry. Let's not give them any ideas..... :D
I have attached my Marshall PowerPoint to the strap of my Tritronics (Garmin) Upland Special training collar. A friend told me how he had done it and its pretty slick. Everything on one collar, and the weight is balanced out well. I'll most likely do the same with the new Marshall GPS dog collar.
I have seen blogs by the hound guys complaining that they are running out of neck on their dogs.

There is something to just how hard is it to loose track of your wirehaired miniature Dachshund.
I suspect Marshall noticed last time when they were doing the beep collars for dogs that there is a lot more volume there. On the other hand Garmin can leverage their volume in other markets to slam all the other makers to the wall on price any time they get the urge. Do they want to get in the tank with the big shark figuring that they are too small for Garmin to bother with taking a bite out of them.
