Is anyone aware of a website that has photos of all or any of the past NAFA Meet Posters?
This is merely a question not a criticism in any way. That looks like Red Cedar that you have in there with him. Does Red Cedar, a Juniper, have the same anti-fungal properties as conifers with...
I personally feel that it is innate to mantle when the bird feels that its food is threaten, guess I should clarify that. Not a strong opinion, I could probably be swayed other way after reading...
I could care less if someones bird mantles or not. Some falconers strive to achieve no mantling and some don't. It matters not to me, to each there own. The purpose of the thread was for Dillon to...
I think that Dillon is trying to say is that a bird should not mantle because it feels threatened by the falconer. Of course if the bird feels threatened by something in its environment it will...
Dillon is not in abatement.
That was easily the scariest moment of my life. A matter of inches and my hamstring would have been ripped out. I'll never take my eye off of any eagle after that day. lol.
My thoughts exactly. We've both trained birds that "couldn't be trained." Both now and at the former employer...
I also wanted to add a side note that I've seen Dillon train a haggard Marshall...
Hypothetically, shocking a bird to stop screaming or prevent landing could work. Birds of prey definitely understand punishment. Fledgling Peregrines fly around begging from their parents. This is...
I agree with you here Jeff. I consider myself "in the know" on this topic. Notice how a few were jumped all over and then no one else weighed in.
I have been professionally training animals...
Does the bird come instantly to the lure? If so then you may have a better idea of whether it is a weight issue, or a glove issue or something else that you pick up on by doing something different. ...
Put the battery in upside down first, then pop it out and put it back in the right way.
lol.....I can't say that I disagree. A lot less walking anyhow, and no tidbits to get ready.....
I didnt really do that with my current Coop, but I did something similar. I imprinted her last year (always had food never saw me bring it). Tame hacked her for a week, but she was bothering...
All the more reason to join NAFA
The NAFA TAC committee is offering help to states with the new regs. I think that they have to ask for it though.
mountain dews.....
There was a vote a few years ago to change the bylaws to vote for president of nafa. It failed by less than ten votes and had a VERY poor turnout of members voting if I remember correctly.

The NAFA TAC committee has recommendations and offers help to states to get through the process.
Dr. Dave Eslicker is the chair. dslicker on...
I would suggest that you join the International Association of Avian Trainers and Educators: www.iaate.org
They have a forum for members and focus on bird training for education and entertainment...
Can't say I totally agree with this. I've done a lot of work training many behaviors and a lot of training out aggression problems that others have developed and reinforced in birds over long...
Good point about if it doesnt work out nothing lost. I've trained and flown a bunch of birds but never an imprint coop, so I'm doing it for the first time this year. I've been on the fence about...
Jeff, do you think that you'll hood train this bird? And why or why not? Just curious. Thanks
Yep on the money. I made an oops and read the above post to quickly and for some reason I read punishment is to remove the reinforcer when it clearly says negative reinforcement. There has been a...
