Just started following the thread....been busy with the vineyard, winery and work. Looks like things are going quite well! He sure is a pretty bird! Mine is just about finished with the molt, so...
I think I agree with that....when they are still young, they do need us and certainly by this time they are wedded to the lure. I revise my first comment...thanks for clarifiying that for me.
I don't disagree with you. I have no experience with hacking recipe birds. I just felt that in this case, if the bird is showing a fear response, it might be hard to get it back without weight...
Mark...I don't think it wise to tame hack when the bird is raised as a receipe bird. It is already too far along to let it loose. The tame hack is a natural progression beginning just shortly after...
Hey Mark...Haven't been on the forum for awhile...just picked up this thread. Changes in birds that aren't associated with anything external usually signal an internal change like hormones...
Welcome Mark! You'll like this site better than IFX.
I have done both methods, and I think tame hacking has more advantages. Once the bird is flying regularly, he needs to be shown that you will provide opportunities to kill game. He needs to know...
I began in the house. I found I could time the mutes pretty well by placing him in his sleeping box (a giant hood without the perch and open at the top instead of side or front). As soon as he went,...
My tame hack gos was never hooded because I read the accipiter behavior problem book by McDermott and he thought it a bad idea. The problem I've run into is that the bird resents being casted so...
My tamehacking went very, very well. He doesn't bate or scream and he is wonderful to be around. The only thing I'd do different is to make to the hood from the start. I like being able to hood...
I tame hacked a gos this year and am amazed with the tameness...no screaming except prior to the hunt. It really is only vocalization..not screaming. I had screaming with my recipe bird 5 years ago....
I had a passage rt that killed two cats (feral). Also, one time, I was coming home from an unsuccessful hunt in my woods. My wife called to me as she saw me come towards the house to see if I was...

I don't know how to upload a pic to this site. It says I can't add attachments.
I cannot believe how well the hack is going! Victor is now three months old. He is dog tame and actually seems to like coming to me. He plays with my two goldens when he is out and runs off...
Hello....I'm from Eaton, Ohio...just a hop west of Dayton. I am a member of OFA and hope to go to the picnic this year. I plan to bring a print of my last goshawk that was painted by Chris Walden...
Hello...I am new to forums so please be patient with me. I am a goshawk lover and have a new first time tame hack. I am so impressed I can't believe it is real. My last gos was a recipe and had some...
