    Cody,

Not to cast any doubt about what you saw, but I get a couple calls a year from people who are sure they saw a lost falconry bird..

It is, for the most part, in the spring and often, upon investigation, an adult bird carrying sticks to the nest. Often the stick is mistaken for jesses hanging from the feet.

Redtails do and will catch snakes of all sizes too. In warmer climates (or warmer times of the year), hawks carrying snakes may be suggested as a falconry bird with jesses.

But, it could be a lost falconry bird too! Ya never know!

Keep your eyes open in that area and see if you can find the bird again.. If it is not migrating thru, it may be set up in its territory.
