    Default Introduction from John Hunter

Hello just a quick introduction, I am an Eagle falconer from Scotland and have been flying Eagles for the last 9 years. I am currently flying a male Golden who is in his third season and has acounted for a good number of blue hares . I started falconry in 1975 and have flown a variety of birds over the years.

    Welcome, John.
    Is your male an imprint?

    That's good.

My season is just starting. Eli finished moulting late. I'm rope conditioning him now.

    We'll talk.

We are pretty much snowed in at the moment, not sure where the season is going to take us this year. I am keeping Floyd just above his hunting weight on the off chance that the weather will break and we will get out

    Welcome John,

We needed a Scot in the mix, and an eagle to boot! Kippers and eggs ! Best breakfast there is. I must have my coffee with it though.

We should look at renaming this forum "North Atlantic Falconers Exchange" ! Wouldn't have to change the initials.
    Our best to "Floyd".

    Welcome, sir.

Nice pictures John, and Floyd is beautiful. Do you fly him out of the hood all the time or only in that picture? LOL

Unless doing waiting on flights , the flights are strictly out of the hood, there is no point in the type of terrain we are flying letting the eagle choose its slips. We also fly together at times alternating slips, flying out of the hood makes this more manageable

    Default Floyd

Managed our first outing on the moor this year, previously not allowed out on the ground because of grouse shooting. Floyd managed to put two blue hares in the bag which was great because his fitness is not quite there yet. Will try to post a couple of pictures later. Should be a good season with a week solid Eagle hawking planned for the second week in December along with another Eagle hawker.
