Now that I have my workshop back I have been slowly catching up and even have had some time to work on my new hood styles. A few years ago I was visiting Clayton Smith and while in his workshop he gave me several hoods for my collection. These hoods were from the mid to late 80's. One, I particularly liked, was a one piece Dutch / Anglo style hybrid with some nicely tooled and dyed patterns on it . This is my take on that hood with the same features that were on the hood Clay gave to me.
My newly revamped web site should be up and running sometime in May, until then I am back at hard until I get caught up, the break is over.

Very nice. Do you find that a blockier hood like that is a better fit for falcons or hawks?

Hey Mario, good question,,the hood is not as blocky as it appears at least in my opinion. I sat that hood beside one of my "Paradise" hoods and it certainly has a different shape, it is a little longer in the back and is more square but really not that much. Hawk or falcon? I am not sure it would fit one better than the other, I am giving this hood to a friend with a gyr, that will give me a better feel on whether Tweeks need to be made.

The reason I ask, I had a hard time finding hoods to fit my MHHs. Tried a few that fit good but that were not just right. I tried one of your khan hoods on one of my birds and it was a perfect fit and the bird never fused. So I do think shape can play into fit and comfort.

Oh no doubt shape plays a huge role in fit I just could not answer the question how this style would fit? I have likely sold more Khan hoods for HH than any other bird, they seem to fit them well. Personally, I prefer a more Anglo,, Indian,, style hood such as my Khan and Cole-Man, Pred8tr hoods for my birds but not everyone likes that look, I am hoping this more traditional style will fill that void in the hoods I offer.

Me too...I love the look and fit of these hoods. Funny how hoodmakers can make all sorts of styles and shapes and go back to something simple like a good anglo indian. Blocked Indians and traditional indian hoods just do it for me.

Your new hood looks great though. Probably my favorite hood that you've done...

I love Ken's hoods, we are so lucky to have so many talented hood makers on here that are willing to help newbees and each other. I think in the last year I have seen hood design and development jump so much, it is just great time to be into the hood making industry.

It fits Oddsod! ,But he liked the Monitor better as with Ian's hood he did not shake or scratch at all with the Monitor, but scratched once with the new style on. He has not worn a hood sense the middle of February tho and it was the last one I tried. Thanks Ken

Hey, glad they arrived safely,, the Dutch X Anglo looks good on, that is the first hood I made and I have not seen it on a bird, I really like the look. I have changed the beak opening since that first hood. The Monitor hood has a neat look to it, too bad I could not secure more of those hides,

Just finished this DXA Hybrid for a Female Redtail. For those that like the Anglo style throat slash around the base of the hood I am now offering it as an option at no extra charge. I have this thing with those throat slashes.
