Jees sorry bout your bad luck. I didn't transfer the bird I sold it to a very accomplished fellow abatement falconer. Last I heard she was ruling the dump because I trained her to wait on for an hour or so and she liked to fly things with pointed wings (as well as ST grouse). I'm sure she is even better now for having been flown several times a day all winter. Why is everybody so damn touchy on this site!?

Michael, not to sure what you mean by the "touchy" part. Was your birds name Storm?? It fits the description of a bird my husband flew at a landfill two years ago.

Why not look into a blood test to check species? I know they can do it with dogs.

    Hi John,

One of my gyrXbarbary tiercels looks very similar to yours. Here he is in juvenile and adult plumage.

The bird originally posted in the thread looks very much like a gyrXbarbary, and nothing about it suggests Peale's to me. The deep reddish chest had to come from somewhere, and it certainly did not come from a gyrfalcon or a Peale's falcon. Given that the vast majority of hybrid tiercels are produced from a male gyrfalcon, I highly doubt that it is a result of semen fumbling. I believe that he is exactly what the breeder says he is. Handsome devil, in any event.

    Regards,

    Steve
