Default Any pics or stories of the Wa State meet?

I missed the meet as my son was leaving for Marine bootcamp, and I wanted to spend the week end with him. So any pictures or cool stories? I heard something on facebook about topless hawking. There has to be a story there.

That was before the meet....it was wayyyy to windy for that crap during the meet! The weather was not cooperative, but rabbits still got nabbed. I didn't have time to edit these photos, they are just cropped, so sorry a few are a bit dim.

You missed it for a good cause! And in reality, the wind made the hawking really difficult.

Bart, sorry we missed you! Friday the weather was perfect and HOT out. My male RT took two bunnies and I joked with Mark Hurd that it was too hot for long sleeves (which it really was) but that lead to...other comments! That afternoon we took a few bunnies with Mark's male harris hawks. My shin pulled feathers on a quail that evening. Went out to dinner with Phil Smith and his son Cory that night, so a fun day altogether. Saturday was VERY windy. Some rabbits taken by the harris hawk gang. My red-tail got blown about two miles away. I had to run a mile to get him but alls well that ends well. Too windy to fly sharpie that evening so flew harris hawks again. Sunday was a bit better but wind picked up again. That evening got to watch a crosshawk take a quail, I was impressed by the speed and length of the flights and was told those weren't even his best. Friends from Salt Lake and Boise drove over for the meet and a good showing from Pullman area. As you already mentioned, Noah got some great pics! It was fun to see everyone Hope to see you at the winter meet!

Bob, you probably already guessed but that is Reggie (last pic), your pup's brother!! The shorter haired pup in between the sharp shin pics is Dexter, also your pup's brother. The first picture of the jrt/beagle is my two year old pup Otis (cousin to Reggie, Dexter and your dog). I love these mixes, I don't think I would ever get anything but this mix for rabbits!

Simone, yup guessed that Reggie was a sibling or at least a very close relative to Casey (my pup). I haven't really gotten him into the field yet as my truck blew its transmission a few weeks. But I get my new truck on Tuesday so we will get right back at it. I also will be making some trips to go hawking with Dan pike once he gets back from his grouse treck. Would be great to see how experienced rabbit dogs work. Might teach my mutt a thing or two as well

Bob, Dan is back. He and I are going out with my redtail tomorrow around noon. You are more than welcome to come with us. I have two cousins to your dog also.

Bob, yes, going out with Danny (and Bart) and their dogs will be great for Casey. It really helps to have older dogs show them the ropes then all bets are off after a couple times of that usually! Really great line of dogs. Glad there are so many "close to home".

Bart. Thanks for the invite. Have family comitments today so not able to make it. Thanks though. Will try for next week maybe. Also got really get Casey used to the birds. While he has seen them and been around them he still hasn't been there for free flying. At 7 months old he is still very much a pup and gets really excited by the birds rowing their wings or eating. Not always a good thing.
