Default Howdy from Cartoon City Nevada

Hello to all you out in the NAFEX forum. I have been trying to join for a week with technical issues. A HUGE thank you to Mario for making it happen! I have been reading so much on here and will be commenting and participating in things, but please give me grace as I am very new and learning. Any comments I make are out of curiosity or ignorant excitement. Thank you for sharing your gathered wealth of knowledge and great stories with me!

Ed, what Dave is really asking is "Do you know of any good fields?"

Lew, I have been hunting exactly 0 times with a hawk, so I know of no fields to tell of, but if you need someone to shadow you when your out with yours I would be MORE than happy to. I'll even keep your spots a secret and won't frequent them without you when I get my first bird. Of course I will buy into your famous stories you tell too

The bad news is that there are no questions about your "back side" on the test. Just kidding with you. Good luck on the test.

Ed, Just north of you in Washoe Valley, lives Mike Gourdeau. He's flown hawks and falcons for a long time. He has a lot of knowledge in falconry. You might give him a call since you two live so close to each other.

Thanks Dan, my sponsor told me that we have a great group of local folks around. I am sure Mike is one of those I'll be meeting and learning lots from.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I just wanted to.....well, boast I guess. I passed the test today! So I am over the first hurdle. Time to finish my mews and perch.

WOOHOO!!! I got my license in the mail today. I am not there to see or hold it yet, but my son verified that it is indeed at home. So I guess that makes me an official apprentice!

Well, I don't know what the standard wait time is, but my wait was exactly 2 weeks from the day I mailed in my app with check and equipment list to the day I received the license back. Considering the mail is typically a one day trip from house to the Reno area where the application is processed. So I would consider that a long time, but I also realize that if there is only one person over special permits and if she goes on vacation or sick leave or something of that sort, then that would add to the time frame. There was an observed holiday in there too. I do think it is funny that the check has still not been cashed from my checking account though.
