Default Submitted this one to Nat Geo

Hey all - Just wanted to put this up there for a little more notice. I submitted this photo of my cooper's hawk with the wasp to Nat Geo's Your Shot contest which ends on ten days. You aren't obligated to vote on it by any means (though it would be appreciated of course! :P), but I just thought you'd enjoy seeing a dorky photo of a young coops. Thanks!

Elena that is such a great photo. Congrats on being selected. I think it shows his dorkyness and his beauty so well.

Congrats on making the daily dozen, that's one of my favorite photos I've seen in a while!

Thanks guys! The story gets published on the 30th, and it looks like I actually have a chance! If not in the paper magazine copy then at least the online version. I'm pretty shocked!

It is afraid to come out of the mews now. With all the bees and wasps out there.

Are you going to be selling that picture? I would love to frame and hang it in my house by the pool table.

I haven't been able to invest as much time in him as I wanted since I moved to western WA, so we haven't had any successful hunts yet. He chases well after quail though, and we've just started building up his confidence on little birds (he used to completely ignore them even if they fluttered a foot away in front of his face). The WFA meet is coming up soon, so hopefully we'll have a chance to catch something then.

And John, I'd be afraid to leave the mews too if there were that many wasps out! I haven't put too much thought into selling the photo before, but PM me and we can figure something out. I'm flattered that you considered it for framing!
