Default New to falconry and site

    Hi.
We are new to falconry and are learning how to use NAFEX.net.
Is there anyone who can let us know how to find a sponsor/school is the SW Florida area?

Contact your local wildlife agency first, they should be able to give you a packet with a list of things you need to do to become a falconer. Also, start reading and studying now!

    Hi Susan,

Where in SW Florida are you? There is no "school" for falconry in FL, the permit system requires finding a sponsor, passing a knowledge test, and building the appropriate facilities per the Florida falconry regulations.

You get into falconry by becoming a part of the community, you go out with falconers, hunt with them, learn, and meet people. If you click with the right person you will come to find a sponsor and go from there.

Here is a link to the regulations in Florida, they will give you an idea of what's involved with getting permitted.
