    Default Michigan Hello

I'm Pat from SE Michigan. My wife and I are now apprentice falconers. Trapping season just opened (9/12) so we're in the process of getting our first birds. Exciting times. Hopefully I'll be able to post some pictures of a freshly trapped RT shortly.

Congratulations on your apprenticeship. This trapping season seems to be a good one. We trapped 4 birds on opening day and saw 10 or 11 passage birds. Good luck with your trapping adventures.

We have seen many birds. Probably half of them have been Haggard. I think the nice weather has been an issue for us. The birds are well fed at the moment and not extremely interested in the traps. We've had a few come to the trap, but not really hit them.

On a good note, we've seen a lot of other birds too. Immature bald eagle, broad wing, merlin, great horned owl, and northern harrier.

We have some rough weather coming in this weekend, would be a good time to go trap right before the front moves in
