    Question Looking Sponsor in Miami

    Hello,
I'm very interested in falconry. I love animals, hunting and hawks. I've been reading about falconry a lot and I'm want to meet some sponsor to learn more about the sport and before become an apprentice. Please if is there someone General or Master in the area around Miami just let me know.
    Thanks.

Check with FHF and with the State FWC as the FWC should have a current list to give to you. Just remember most like to have you taken and passed the test or at least meet and go out and hunt along with them first.

I recommend getting in touch with the florida falconry clubs, the Florida Hawking Fraternity and the Florida Falconer's Association.

I also suggest checking out the Florida Gamehawkers facebook group, if you are on facebook.

Before seeking out a sponsor it's best to try and meet other falconers and get out in the field to help beat brush. A sponsor will be your mentor for two years, so they typically like to get to know people first. Getting out in the field shows your dedication.

You can also call FWC and look into taking the exam. You don't need a sponsor in the state of florida to take the test.

Also, not sure if it's my place to mention this, but forum rules require you to sign your posts with your name. Might want to just put it in your signature for future reference.

We have him fix up well in FLorida Falconers. Over all issue is with sponsors stepping up to assist. No more "paper Sponsors" unless under extreme situations as a relapsed permit.

I was living in Miami a couple years ago and was looking for a sponsor back then. The closest one was living in LeHigh Acres
