    Default Hello from Montpelier id

    Hello all,
My name is David Turner I've been looking for a sponsor since I was 14. I'm now 28 and have found a sponsor and my license is in the mail. Due to living in a very small town Falconry resorces have been scarce. I've learned allot in the last few months and a lot has changes since I first started looking into Falonry. I'm great full for all the advice and help I've gotten. I can't wait to get my first bird and get started training. Please excuse any newbe questions.
    Thanks David turner

Wow, Montpelier Id. What an amazing place to practice falconry. I was amazed, a few years ago, when I went into a sporting goods shop there and purchased the dutch hood that my jerkin wears to this day. I had heard from a friend in Boise that that there is a falconer that had moved to Montpelier, but don't remember his name. I will be passing through in May on my way to work. Perhaps we could meet for a cup.

All the best with your new adventure in falconry.

I'm in jeff. Which sports Store did you go to? I've never seen any falconry stuff in any of them.

There was a falconer that dealt in falconry equipment that lived in Paris, Idaho near Montpelier. I believe his name was Ezra Lantz if I remember the name right. He is a friend of Stephen Buffat's I don't know if he is still around or not. I think I heard he went to South America. I got a very good Glove from him once, he may have been selling through the sports store.

The one directly behind the Maverick Gas Station and the main intersection. The owner said that a falconer had worked for him in the past and had sold him some equiptment, wholesale. I bought a hood and a glove. The glove is a nice one and neither were expensive. The hood is Dutch, with a green body and dark blue lizard skin eye panels. There is no makers mark in it, save for a size mark of 11. It is sewn and does not sit too high in the back. It fit the first time I put it on the jerkin with no tweeking, no modification.

Great David, I will message you when the time gets closer.

That's GREAT news, Chris, particularly as it pertains to people getting started in falconry. In the past, newer falconers have been discouraged from asking questions. Jeff Redig told me this was because you did not want to interfere with advice from sponsors, which I never could really understand, particularly since being a sponsor does not necessarily equate to expertise. Also, he indicated that there was concern about the number of seasoned falconers leaving the list because of "basic" questions. So, I am very pleased that you are welcoming falconers to be and, hopefully, apprentices as well.

Sorry to say bill, but you're missing the point(s) from what, years ago?

Regarding seasoned falconers, we don't tolerate lazy people who are unwilling to search or even TRY to find info before asking the most obvious of questions. We are always open and welcoming to anyone who will put in the good ole college try and play by the forum rules, that has never changed.

See the below thread for clarification on sponsors and interfering with the process. I told you that based on the below thread, from Chris.
